In a tragic incident, a young man was reportedly fatally beaten on suspicion of stealing a bicycle in Shahganj, Hooghly district.
The victim, identified as Gorakh Das (45), went missing on Friday night, and his body was discovered in a field within the Dunlop estate on Saturday morning. Three individuals, namely Dheeraj Singh, Pintu Kumar Prasad, and Rajesh Kumar, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to police sources, Gorakh Das was accused of stealing a neighbor's bicycle, leading to his alleged assault by a group of individuals.
The police promptly responded to the situation, ensuring control and recovering the victim's body for further investigation.
